Dhyana (Meditation)

Meditation is a crucial component of all Yoga. In fact, the origins of Yoga lie in the practice of stilling and focussing the mind, with the physical practices and poses only being introduced later on as a means for preparing the body to sit well during meditation.

Don't be fooled and think that the aim of Yoga is to get int more advanced and difficult Asana. It is not. When we create flexibility and movement in the body, we are creating the right conditions for a still and focused mind. Each class at Santosha Yoga contains an aspect of meditation or guided relaxation at the end.  This is not just a few minutes relaxing in shavasana and breathing, but rather a whole range of meditation practices are introduced that perform a variety of functions and suit different temprements and personal needs.
